Action Requested:

City Council consideration of an agreement with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., to provide design services and contract administration relating to the 1709 Median Landscape Improvements in the amount of $70,500.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto.

Background:

The City of Keller applied for funding from the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Green Ribbon Project for 2024. The 2024 TxDOT Green Ribbon Program will provide landscape improvements to medians on 1709 between College Avenue and Meadowlands boulevard. The City of Keller has been tentatively awarded $400,000.00 for the construction of the improvements, pending the approval of an Advanced Funding Agreement.

Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. was contacted to provide these services based on their previous work on TxDOT Green Ribbon Programs. The concept plan includes landscape, hardscape and irrigation. Planting will consist of Texas native and adaptive shrubs, ornamental grasses, groundcover and ornamental trees. Hardscape improvements will include hardwood mulch and river rock, as well as 12” concrete mow strips along the back of curb for maintenance and safety.

Financial Impact:

Funding in the amount of $70,500.00 shall be paid from the Street Capital Improvement fund with funding provided from the General Fund.
