Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a Chapter 380 Economic Development Program Agreement, for an Old Town Keller Façade Improvement Matching Grant, in the amount of $5,000.00

Background:

Ruben Reynoso, owner of El Wine Chateau in Old Town Keller, is requesting a $5,000.00 façade improvement grant for improvements to the property located at 159 South Main Street. The total estimated cost of all building improvements is $100,450.  The total estimated cost of all eligible façade improvements is $12,232.00.

On May 15, 2012, City Council approved a resolution granting a $2,456.93 façade improvement grant for the improvements of 159 South Main Street. The grant was applied to the costs of repainting the existing building exterior and trim, power washing the exterior to remove molding and scaling of brick, cutting away cracking mortar and patching damaged spalding brick. The Dr. Pepper Company was contacted to repaint the Dr. Pepper mural on the side of the building at that time.

The grant policy allows participants to apply for up to one grant in a 12 month period from completion of previous grant. The previous grant was completed and paid out on July 26, 2012.

Budget Impact:

The remaining program budget for the 2017 Fiscal Year is $35,000. If the façade improvement matching grant application is approved, the remaining program budget would be $30,000.
