Title

Consider a resolution approving an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Fort Worth and the City of Keller for the construction and materials testing for the Mt. Gilead and US 377 Intersection Improvements Project (Project No. 501501); and authorizing the City Manager to execute said agreement on behalf of the City of Keller.

Body

Background:

The Mt. Gilead Road and US 377 Intersection Improvements Project was initiated by the City of Keller to accommodate the improvements designed by the City of Fort Worth for Timberland Boulevard which aligns with Mt. Gilead at the US 377 intersection.   Keller will add additional lanes for westbound Mt. Gilead traffic approaching US 377 and relocate existing utilities as needed.

On June 10, 2015, the City entered into an Agreement for Professional Services for the design of the Mt. Gilead and US 377 Intersection Improvements Project with Multatech Engineers who were also the engineers for Fort Worth’s Timberland Boulevard project.  The cities planned for Fort Worth to bid, administer construction and inspect the work required for a combined construction project if possible.  All of the rights-of-way and easements have been acquired and the design has been completed for both projects, allowing them to be combined into a single construction project which is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2018 and will take about a year to complete.

The estimated construction cost for the Mt. Gilead and US 377 Intersection Improvements is $506,702.  Inspection and Material Testing fees are an additional $20,268 for a total estimated amount of $526,970. The final cost to Keller will be based on the actual costs of the completed project which could exceed the estimated amount.

This item is for the approval of an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Fort Worth for the construction, inspection and materials testing of the work required for the Mt. Gilead and US 377 Intersection Improvements Project.

Budget Impact:

Estimated total of $526,970 (payable to the City of Fort Worth) and the project budget is $530,000.

Financial Considerations:

The final cost to Keller will be based on the actual costs of the completed project which could exceed the estimated amount.  The project is including in the Street System Capital Improvements Project Fund and funding is from the 2017 Certificates of Obligation and Street Maintenance Fund.
