Title

Consider a resolution approving the Matching Funds Program Application with the Keller Youth Association for the modification of outfield fencing at the Keller Sports Park.

Body

Background:

In October of 2017 the Keller Youth Association (KYA) approached the Keller Development Corporation (KDC) to discuss a matching grants approval for a modification of the outfield fencing at the Keller Sports Park. The modification will raise the fence from 6 feet to 15 feet to allow for additional age groups to play on Field 3. Alternative solutions were requested at the joint meeting of KDC and Park Board in October. The findings from that research concluded that the cost (approximately $100,000) to extend the playing fields was cost prohibitive and KYA would not be interested in pursuing a project of that scale. They are requesting that their original submittal be considered for approval.

Budget Impact:

The total project cost is $27,000. $18,000 will be covered by KYA and $9,000 will be funded through the Matching Funds Program in the KDC budget.

Financial Considerations:

There is $9,000 in the 2017 Matching Grant Project in the Park System Capital Improvement Project. KDC funded the project thru an interfund transfer in FY 2016-17.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

Park Board recommended approval at their December 14, 2017 meeting.
KDC Board recommended approval at their January 9, 2018 meeting.
