Consider a resolution approving Bid Item No. 1 from Earthworks, Inc., of Alvarado, Texas, for grounds maintenance services relating to parks, facility grounds, medians, and parkways, for the Parks and Recreation Department, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents.
Action Requested:
Consider approval of Bid Item No. 1 from Earthworks, Inc., for grounds management services relating to parks, facility grounds, medians, and parkways, for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Background:
In the Fiscal Year 2017-18 General Fund Parks and Recreation Budget, funding was included for grounds maintenance services for parks, facility grounds, medians, and parkways.
Bid Item No. 1 includes mowing, edging, weed-eating and litter control of the following parks, facility grounds, medians and/or parkways:

b) Fire Station # 2
c) Fire Station # 3
d) Friends of the Library Building
e) Bates Street Park
f) Milestone Park
g) Meandering Trail
h) Little Bear Creek Trail
i) Indian Trail
j) Bursey Ranch Park
k) Overton Ridge Park
l) Office Rental at 541 Keller Parkway
m) Pearson Lane Future Trail Easement
n) Indian Trail
o) Chase Oaks Activity Node
p) Keller Smithfield Activity Node

A request for sealed bids for said services was advertised in accordance with State law. The term of the bid is one (1) twelve-month period beginning March 7, 2018, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting was also advertised and conducted on January 26, 2018. Eight (8) vendors attended the pre-bid meeting.
Two qualified bids were received and read aloud in accordance with State law on February 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. The low bid meeting specification requirements for Bid item no. 1 is from Earthworks Inc., in the total amount of $176,616.00 for each twelve-month period, totaling $529,848.00 for the three year period.
Earthworks Inc., has managed both the Town Center Landscape contract and General Parks and City Grounds maintenance contract in previous years.
