Background:

During the City Council retreat on Friday, October 27, 2017, City Council discussed changing the term date for all boards and commissions to allow City Council elections and possible runoff election to be completed before the interview and appointment process begins.  The amendments proposed in this ordinance would change the terms of places on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Library Board, Public Arts Board, and Economic Development Board from June 30th to November 30th of each year.

 

These changes will allow the current council and future councils to ensure that those appointed to City boards and commissions reflect the latest expectations of our citizens and align well with the overall goals and vision of the council and community. 

 

Council Action:                     

Consider approval of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances as reflected in the proposed ordinance.
