Subject:
Title
Consider a resolution approving an Interlocal Agreement with Tarrant County for the rehabilitation of portions of Pearson Lane, Rapp Road, and Rufe Snow Drive, for the Public Works Department; and further authorizing the City Manager to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Approve a resolution authorizing funds for the 2018 Interlocal Agreement with Tarrant County for the rehabilitation of portions of Pearson Lane, Rapp Road and Rufe Snow Drive.
Background:
As part of the approved FY 2017-18 budget, funding was allocated in the General Fund Street Maintenance Budget to provide roadway maintenance. Each year, depending on the availability of County forces, Public Works identifies streets requiring resurfacing for a collaborative effort with Tarrant County. The funds are transferred to the Street System Capital Improvement Project Fund for the 2018 Tarrant County Street Reconstruction Project.
The following locations were chosen for the joint 2018 effort and is consistent with the priorities established in the recently completed Pavement Maintenance Program:
• Pearson Lane from Cielo Court north to Keller City Limits (~1,310 feet).
• Rapp Road from Whitley Road to Sunrise Drive (~1,464 feet).
• Rufe Snow Drive from FM 1709 north 500ft (~500 feet)
These locations are shown on the attached Location Map.
As part of this partnership, Precinct 3 of Tarrant County agrees to provide the labor and equipment necessary for this work. The City of Keller in turn agrees to cover the costs of material removal, base preparation, new material, traffic control and ½ of the fuel required. The City’s estimated cost for these streets is approximately $300,000.
Budget Impact:
Sufficient funds were transferred from the FY 2017-18 General Fund Street Maintenance Budget to the 2018 Tarrant County Street Reconstruction Project in the Street System Capital Improvement Project Fund to pay for this activity.
Financial Considerations:
Utilizing the county manpower and equipment to resurface these streets, the city costs are expected to be $300,000.
