Consider a resolution approving the bid for the North Main Street and South Elm Street waterline improvements project, from Canary Construction, Inc., of Lewisville, Texas, for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the bid in the amount of $338,549.00 from Canary Construction, Inc. for the North Main Street and South Elm Street Waterline Improvements project.
Background:
These waterline improvements are included in the current 5 year Capital Improvement Program. At the North Main Street location, an existing undersized waterline will be replaced from Keller Hicks Road to Johnson Road. At the South Elm Street location, a gap in an older section of the existing water system will be connected just north of Bear Creek Parkway. These improvements will improve water circulation and system reliability. On May 9, 2018, seven (7) qualifying bids were received at Keller Town Hall for this project. A bid summary is included showing the range of bid amounts. City staff has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references and recommends Canary Construction, Inc. of Lewisville, Texas be awarded the bid in the amount of $338,549.00 with construction to be completed within ninety (90) calendar days.
Financial Impact:
The project is included in the Water/Wastewater System Capital Improvement Program Fund with funding provided by the Water/Wastewater Fund.
