Title
Consider a resolution approving the bid from Bernal Commercial Construction, of Grand Prairie, Texas, for the Gabion Wall System Repair - Highland Oaks Crossing Project, for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents related thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Background:
In 2010, improvements to the section of the drainage channel between Rufe Snow Drive and North Tarrant Parkway were completed in the second phase of a two phase project to improve flood control. Since then, two sections of the gabion wall have failed and are in need of repair. A geotechnical study and report were completed to determine the cause of the failures and recommend repairs. The repairs will include removing the failed sections and inadequate material beneath them, constructing concrete foundations and re-building the gabion walls.
On September 12, 2018 five (5) qualifying bids were received at Keller Town Hall for this project. City staff, with the aid of an engineering consultant, has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references and recommends Bernal Commercial Construction, of Grand Prairie, Texas be awarded the bid in the amount of $121,225.00 with construction to be completed within one hundred twenty (120) calendar days. A bid summary is included showing the range of bid amounts.
