Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a proposal from Dunkin Sims Stoffels, Inc. (DSS), for design development and engineering services for the renovation of Overton Ridge Park, in the total amount of $210,775.00.

Background:

Overton Ridge Park is designated as approximately 20 acres, (8 developed, 12 undeveloped) of parkland located between Roanoke Road and Woodborough Lane (See Map). To provide additional space for passive play and recreational opportunities for the citizens of Keller, staff was directed to coordinate a design development study with options and amenities for final construction consideration.

The proposal from DSS includes site investigation, existing base map conditions, schematic design documents, and design development documents for final approval before authorizing construction drawings for a contractor bidding process. The total design development and engineering fees, through the Design Development Phase, is $210,775.00. The fee also includes a Watershed Drainage Study, Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS) registration, and various reimbursable expenses. A complete cost and task breakdown is included in the attached contract proposal from DSS (Exhibit A).

Financial Impact:

The project is included in the Parks System Capital Improvement Program Fund with funding provided by the Keller Development Corporation fund. Once the project is complete, the Parks Department will maintain the newly developed addition. Additional operating funds will be requested in the FY 2019-20 budget to maintain the restroom, playground, pavilion and landscaping.
