Title

Consider a resolution approving the bid for the construction of a restroom/storage building for Bear Creek Park, for the Parks and Recreation Department, from Romtec, Inc., of Roseburg, Oregon, through the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving the bid from Romtec, Inc., for the construction of a restroom/storage building for Bear Creek Park, in the total amount of $201,917.77.

Background:

Prior to the FY2018-19 budget process, City Council requested staff to investigate the cost to add an additional restroom facility to the west side of Bear Creek Park, to be placed close to the existing basketball and pickleball courts (See Map). Staff recommended during the FY2018-19 budget process to combine the proposed restroom with a storage facility to replace the existing 45 year old storage facility located in the same area.

The proposed building is a 17’ X 33’ concrete building with split face CMU block and standing seam metal roof to match the existing park facilities. The building will be pre-engineered and packaged off-site, shipped to the location and assembled on-site. This will be the third Romtec facility in the entire Parks System, including a larger storage facility at Bear Creek Park and a restroom facility at the Keller Smithfield Activity Node.

The total amount of $201,917.77 includes a turnkey installation, including connection to water, sewer and electrical utilities, excavation, foundation and slab, and construction and trim out of the complete building with all fixtures and features included in the attached proposal from Romtec (Exhibit A).

Financial Impact:

The project is included in the Parks System Capital Improvement Program Fund with funding provided by the Keller Development Corporation fund. Once the project is complete, the Parks Department will maintain the newly completed facility. Additional operating funds will be requested in the FY 2019-20 budget to maintain the restroom.
