Action Requested:

Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement between the City of Keller and Cole Construction, Inc. for improvements to the Keller Smithfield Activity Node in the amount of $121,099.

Background:

The Keller Smithfield Activity Node is part of the 107 acres of The Parks at Town Center, located to the west of the Keller Smithfield Road and Bear Creek Parkway intersection. To provide additional parking spaces for this very popular park, staff was directed to coordinate a design and construction project to add a total of 25 parking spaces to the site.

A design was developed by the landscape architectural firm of Dunkin Sims Stoffels, Inc., approved by the Parks and Recreation Board, and issued for competitive bidding in December, 2018. Improvements to be made include the addition of a 25-car off-street parking lot. Ten bids were received on January 15, 2019 with Cole Construction, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas submitting the lowest bid meeting specifications. Both the site layout and bid summary are attached for review.

Financial Impact:

The construction project was budgeted and approved by the Keller Development Corporation in the amount of $121,099 and has been on the CIP list of projects since 2015.
