Title

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of seven (7) rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) from Consolidated Traffic Controls, Inc., of Arlington, Texas through the HGACBuy Cooperative Purchasing Program; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of seven (7) RRFBs through the HGACBuy Cooperative Purchasing Program in the amount of $99,956.

Background:

The City currently has 26.7 miles of Hike and Bike Trails spread through the city. At numerous locations, segments of the trail system cross streets where there are currently only yield to pedestrian signs. Staff has received requests to add the RRFBs in numerous locations throughout the city, however this request is strictly related to the Hike and Bike Trail segments that the City of Keller maintains. The Public Works Director has verified these seven (7) proposed locations as reasonable candidates to install these RRFBs.

HGACBuy is a purchasing program that allows state and local governments to benefit from the shared purchasing power of numerous state entities. Detailed bid sheets for the requested RRFBs are included with this memo as Exhibits “A, B, C and D”.

Financial Impact:

The Parks System Capital Improvement Project fund includes $250,000.00 for Hike and Bike Trail System Expansion, with funding from the Keller Development Corporation fund.  The total cost of all seven (7) RRFBs is $99,956.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

Both the Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments have received numerous requests for additional RRFBs throughout the city’s Hike and Bike Trail System.
