Title

Consider a resolution approving the bid from Peachtree Construction of Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2019 Annual Street Maintenance Project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving the bid from Peachtree Construction for the 2019 Annual Street Maintenance Project in the amount of $1,417,130.65.

Background:

The City’s Capital Improvements Program (CIP) contains an annual project to rehabilitate residential streets.  To support the funding of these projects and street maintenance in general, voters approved a ¼ of one percent sales tax, and a Street Improvement Fund was established to receive the funds generated by the sales tax.

This project contains seven (7) asphalt streets and one (1) concrete street, which were selected using the Pavement Condition Index from the 2017 Pavement Management Analysis Report.  The asphalt street work includes removing and replacing the pavement and base failure repairs.  The concrete street work includes removing and replacing specific pavement sections that have failed and crack sealing.  Also included are water service line replacements from the water main to the water meters, barrier free ramp replacements and some drive approach and curb and gutter replacement.

Three qualifying sealed bids were received on May 8, 2019.  A bid summary is attached showing the bid amounts. City staff, with the aid of an engineering consultant, has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references and recommends Peachtree Construction of Fort Worth, Texas be awarded the bid in the amount of $1,417,130.65 for the base bid plus one (1) additive alternate bid item with construction to be completed within one hundred ninety six (196) calendar days

Financial Impact:

Funding is available in the Street System Capital Improvement Fund with funding provided by the Street Maintenance Fund budget and the proposed award is less than the $1,451,609 budgeted for this work.
