Title

Consider a resolution approving the bid from Atlantis Pool Plastering, Inc., of Austin, Texas, for the Indoor Swimming Pool Re-plastering services, for The Keller Pointe Recreation and Aquatic Center, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement between the City of Keller and Atlantis Pool Plastering, Inc. for the Indoor Swimming Pool Re-plastering services to The Keller Pointe Recreation and Aquatic Center in the amount of $98,844.00.

Background:

A request for sealed bids was advertised in accordance with state law for the indoor swimming pool re-plastering services at The Keller Pointe.  An alternate bid was also included consisting of tile and grout cleaning and repair.
Two (2) proposals were received on February 14, 2020, with Atlantis Pool Plastering, Inc., of Austin, Texas submitting the lowest bid meeting specifications. The alternate bid will not be included as it was more than the proposed budget.

The indoor pool surface at The Keller Pointe was last re-plastered in 2009.  It currently has cracks, delaminated areas, and discolorations in the plaster surface rendering it aesthetically unpleasing and in need of replacement.  The surface has been patched and repaired the past four years, however, the repairs are expensive and becoming more frequent.  Full replacement of the surface should last for approximately 8-10 years before another replacement is needed.

Atlantis Pool Plastering, Inc. is well known and respected in the pool construction and maintenance industry and has previously performed services for The Keller Pointe, including re-plastering the outdoor pool in 2018.

Financial Impact:

The FY 2019-20 Keller Pointe Budget includes a transfer from the Keller Pointe Fund to Facilities Capital Improvement Projects in the amount of $110,000 for the indoor swimming pool re-plastering services.

Legal Review:

Standard bid specifications and contract format was reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
