Consider a resolution approving the purchase of as needed concrete sidewalk improvement services from Apex Concrete Construction of Keller, Texas, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the continued purchase of concrete sidewalk improvement services from Apex Concrete Construction, Inc. of Keller, Texas through the interlocal agreement with North Richland Hills in a total amount not to exceed $114,000.
Background:
The City of Keller entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Richland Hills on July 19, 2005 (Resolution 2316) for cooperative purchasing of various goods, materials, equipment and supplies.
These services provide for the most cost efficient construction and repairs of small sections of sidewalks on an as needed basis.
The City of North Richland Hills has entered into an annually renewable contract with Apex Concrete Construction, Inc. of Keller, Texas, for miscellaneous concrete construction and repair services. The City of North Richland Hills is currently in its fourth and final renewal period with Apex Concrete Construction. The fourth renewal expires in January 2021 and will allow the City of Keller to utilize these services for the remainder of the contract period and as budgets allow.
City staff has reviewed and determined that the bid and its current renewal from Apex Concrete Construction of Keller, Texas for the City of North Richland Hills provides for the lowest and most responsible unit prices for such services and recommends the purchase of concrete sidewalk improvement services in a total amount not to exceed $114,000 on an as needed basis.
Financial Impact:
The FY2019-20 budget included $351,693 for sidewalk construction and repair activities. Of that amount, approximately $180,000 is designated to the Pate Orr sidewalk project, $49,500 is designated to Keller’s sidewalk plan (Keller Pedestrian Management System) and $114,000 is designated for needed sidewalk repairs by the department. The remaining funds are designated for project contingency, overages and other special projects.
