Consider a resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to a professional services contract with Teague, Nall & Perkins, for the purpose of providing additional engineering services, relating to the Johnson Road Improvement Project and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents related thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution amending a contract for professional engineering services with Teague, Nall & Perkins for the Johnson Road Improvement Project and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents related thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Background:
As part of the approved 2019-20 Budget, several projects were identified in the vicinity of the Johnson Road and Keller Smithfield intersection that requires design and construction coordination. In an effort to minimize the construction impact of these various projects the nine projects were combined into one. These projects include:
• Johnson Road/Keller-Smithfield roundabout,
• Johnson Road reconstruction from Hallelujah Trail to Keller-Smithfield Road,
• Johnson Road reconstruction from Keller-Smithfield Road to Rhonda Road;
• Stormwater improvements along Johnson Road west of Keller-Smithfield Road,
• Stormwater improvements along Johnson Road east of Keller-Smithfield Road,
• Hike/bike trail on Johnson Road from Rufe Snow Drive to Keller Smithfield Road,
• Hike/bike trail on Keller-Smithfield north of Johnson Road,
• Sidewalk improvements on Johnson Road from Rufe Snow to Rhonda Road, and
• SWIFT Water line replacements along Johnson Road
As part of the roadway design process, additional public meetings, cross section design alternatives, and drainage studies were preformed that were beyond the scope of the original contract. This additional work necessitates both a scope and fee modification in the amount of $95,000.00.
Financial Impact:
The funds for this scope modification will come from the Street Capital Improvement Program with funding provided by the General fund, the Street and Sidewalk Improvement fund, the Roadway Impact Fee fund, and SWIFT bonds. The attached revised schedule targets December 2020 for bidding and an expected construction start of January 2021.
