Consider a resolution approving the construction bid from CI Pavement of Grand Prairie, Texas; for the North Pate Orr Sidewalk Improvements Project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the construction bid from CI Pavement of Grand Prairie, Texas for the North Pate Orr Sidewalk Improvements Project in the amount of $174,809.88.
Background:
In an effort to address pedestrian safety in areas near public facilities such as schools and parks, city staff identified missing sidewalk segments throughout the city and have prioritized those missing segments. This project will construct a sidewalk from FM 1709 to the Keller High School campus along North Pate Orr Road. In an attempt to keep cost down, City staff is proposing repurposing one of the existing travel lanes for sidewalk across the drainage channel. This is the more economic option to constructing a sidewalk bridge or extending the box culverts. Work is expected to start in May 2020 and coincide with school being out of session. Staff has coordinated with Keller ISD representatives.
Eleven (11) qualifying sealed bids were received on March 11, 2020. A bid summary is attached showing the bid amounts. City staff has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references and recommends CI Pavement of Grand Prairie, Texas be awarded the bid in the amount of $174,809.88 with construction to be completed within forty-five (45) calendar days.
Financial Impact:
Funding is included in the Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget.
