Consider a resolution approving an Interlocal Agreement with Tarrant County, Texas, for the rehabilitation of Whitley Road from Bear Creek Parkway to Rapp Road, for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Approve a resolution authorizing budgeted funds for the 2020 Interlocal Agreement with Tarrant County for the rehabilitation of Whitley Road from Bear Creek Parkway to Rapp Road, Exhibit “A”.
Background:
As part of the approved FY 2019-20 budget, funding was allocated in the General Fund Street Maintenance Budget to provide roadway maintenance. Each year, depending on the availability of County forces, Public Works identifies candidate streets for a collaborative resurfacing effort with Tarrant County. The funds will be transferred to the 2020 Tarrant County Street Reconstruction Project.
Whitely Road was chosen for the 2019 effort based on roadway condition and the consistency with other roadway project priorities established in the Pavement Maintenance Program. Approximately one mile (5,267 linear feet) of Whitley Road will be rehabilitated and resurfaced. The location is shown on the attached Location Map.
As part of this partnership, Precinct 3 of Tarrant County agrees to provide the labor and equipment necessary for this work. The City of Keller in turn agrees to cover the costs of material removal, base preparation, new material, traffic control and half of the fuel required. The City’s estimated cost for this street work is approximately $310,000.
Financial Impact:
Utilizing the county work force and equipment to resurface these streets, the city costs are expected to be approximately $310,000. Sufficient funds is budgeted in the FY 2019-20 General Fund Street Maintenance Budget for the 2020 Tarrant County Street Reconstruction Project.
