Title

Consider a resolution extending the terms of appointed Boards and Commissions members with terms ending in 2020 by one (1) year.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The City Council appoints members by a majority vote for the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Library Board, the Public Arts Board, the Economic Development Board, the Parks and Recreation Board, and the Keller Development Corporation.

Each Board or Commission member serves a staggered two-year term ending on November 30.

On March 24, 2020, City Council approved Resolution No. 4222 postponing the May 2, 2020 General Election for Mayor, City Council Place 5, and City Council Place 6 to November 3, 2020, due to public health and safety concerns related to the novel coronavirus (COVID- 19).

Due to the General Election now being held on November 3, 2020; and the social distancing requirements due to COVID-19, the City Council has elected to extend the terms of members that expire in 2020.
