Background:

Staff recently brought forward a proposal to amend the UDC to allow murals with review by the Planning and Zoning Commission and approved by City Council. This amendment was approved unanimously on June 16, 2020.

 

 

Request:

Two Brothers Winery is proposing a mural for their property at 110 Lamar Street. The mural excludes text per the UDC requirements. It will be located on the south facing , exterior wall. (The wall is 30 feet wide by 10 feet in height.) The artist rendering is attached in Exhibit A.

 

 

Planning and Zoning Commission Action:

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval by a vote of 7-0 at the October 13, 2020, Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The Commission commended the owner and artist for creating an image that reflects Keller and also reflects the history and nature of the business.

 

                     

City Council Action:                     

The City Council has the following options when considering a Mural application:

 

§                     Approve as submitted.

§                     Approve with modified or additional condition(s).

§                     Table the agenda item to a specific date with clarification of intent and purpose.

§                     Deny.
