Consider a resolution calling a Runoff Election for the position of Mayor for the City of Keller, Texas to be held on the 8th day of December 2020, as set forth by the Charter and the Texas Election Code.
Background:
The purpose of this resolution is to call the December 8, 2020, City of Keller Runoff Election for Mayor.
Official results show that Armin Mizani earned 47.06% of the vote and Tag Green earned 38.56% of the vote in the November 3, 2020 election. (M. Mathews earned 14.39% of the vote.)
The Texas Constitution requires that "a municipality so providing a term exceeding two (2) years but not exceeding four (4) years for any of its non-civil service officers must elect all of the members of its governing body by majority vote..." Keller City Council members serve three-year terms therefore; they must win a majority (more than 50%) of the vote.
Early Voting will be conducted at Keller Town Hall from Monday, November 23 to Friday, December 4. Polls will be closed Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for Thanksgiving.
Nov. 23-25: 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Nov. 26-27: Closed
Nov. 28: 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Nov. 29: 11 A.M. to 4 P.M.
Nov. 30-Dec. 4: 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Election Day Voting will be held at Keller Town Hall on December 8, 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
The Tarrant County Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services includes the December 8, 2020 Runoff Election. City of Keller voters will be able to vote at any Tarrant County Voting Center. Tarrant County’s voting equipment will be utilized for said election, and shall be conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code.
Financial Considerations:
The approved Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services prepared by Tarrant County includes election services relating to the December 8, 2020 City of Keller Runoff Election. The final cost of said election will be provided by Tarrant County at a later date.
