Consider a resolution approving a Chapter 380 Economic Development Program Agreement, pursuant to Chapter 380 of the Texas Local Government code, and pursuant to the City’s Economic Development Policy, with Leslie Faris of Pickled Picasso, owner of property located at 110 Taylor Street, Keller, Texas, for a City of Keller Façade Improvement Matching Grant; and authorizing the City Manager to execute documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas
Background:
Property and Business owner of Pickled Picasso, Leslie Faris has applied for the Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program at 110 Taylor St in Old Town Keller. Ms. Faris will consolidate two of her businesses into this building which is being renovated for a total project cost of $217,560. The total eligible improvements for the grant program total $47,200 and are listed below.
Eligible Improvements:
-Overall farmhouse theme
-Siding - hardy board, soffit, fascia and trim
-Exterior paint: White exterior with black trim on windows and doors.
-Replace windows with extension creating “bay window effect”.
-Addition of gables and columns
-Extension of porch to create overhang
-Cement accessibility ramp
Citizen Input/Board Review:
The Keller Economic Development Board considered this request at their regular meeting on April 19, 2021 and unanimously recommended approval to City Council. Updates to the Façade Improvement Grant Program are also underway and were discussed at the same meeting. While these updates are still in progress, the board recommended that staff contact the applicant to share the potential updates.
Financial Impact:
The total grant request for this business is $5000. The FY2020-21 Façade Improvement Grant Budget is $35,000, with $30,000 remaining if this request is approved.
