Title

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of one (1) replacement fire pumper, from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., of South Houston, Texas, through the Houston-Galveston Area Council Cooperative Purchasing Program; for the Fire Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of one (1) replacement fire pumper from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., of South Houston, Texas, through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) Cooperative Purchasing Program in the total amount of $1,058,791.

Background:

The fire department’s current ladder truck has been in active service for ten (10) years. A new truck is required to provide the best quality service to the Keller community and to maintain the City’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of 2, which can directly impact homeowners’ insurance rates. The proposed truck will provide front-line service for 10 years, then transition to reserve status for an additional 10 years.

Financial Impact:

The total cost of the proposed truck is $1,058,791, of which $720,000 is available in the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund and the FY 2023-24 budget will include a one-time expenditure from the General Fund for the remainder. The City utilized the HGAC Cooperative Purchasing Program to find the lowest and most responsible price for the new apparatus.
